5.5.7 Vacation

All regular employees of the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library of Pike County scheduled to work 40 hours per week shall be granted vacation time. After one year of continuous employment, the regular employee shall be granted 80 hours of vacation time on the anniversary date of hire, after which the employee shall accrue vacation time at the following rate:

 

  • After one year of continuous employment up to five years: 7 hours/month (Max 163 hours)

  • After the fifth year to 10 years of continuous employment: 10 hours/month (Max 240 hours)

  • After ten years of continuous employment to retirement/termination: 14 hours/month (Max 336 hours)
     

The Director and Fiscal Officer of the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library of Pike County will be granted vacation as follows:
 

  • After one year to five years: 7-14 hours/month

  • Six to ten years: 15 hours/month

  • Eleven years to retirement/termination: 17 hours/month
     

Vacation time shall be paid at the regular hourly rate for each employee.

 

Vacation leave requests shall be submitted in writing on the proper form to the Director.
 

Vacation leave shall be scheduled on a first-come, first serve basis, with preference being given to seniority and vacation leave already scheduled.
 

The Director shall approve vacation requests at his/her discretion to ensure the orderly operation of the library.
 

Vacation time balances may not accumulate to more than the amount of time earned in two years.
 

Vacation time shall be used in increments of not less than one hour.
 

The record of vacation time accumulation and use maintained by the Fiscal Officer shall be recognized as the official vacation leave record.
 

No vacation shall accrue for an employee during the first year of employment.
 

Upon termination of employment, any employee with more than a year's continuous employment shall be paid at the current hourly rate of pay for all unused vacation time.
 

No vacation time is granted to part-time and/or temporary employees.
